Towards socially just and green regional restructuring under transformation pressure (working title)
Cumulative PhD dissertation (supervised by Univ.-Prof. Mag. Dr. Michaela Trippl) concerned with how regional transformations of mature carbon-intensive industries (such as pulp and paper) impact and are impacted by shifting relations between industry, society and the environment. Employing a political industrial ecology lens, it aims to politicise regional industrial decarbonisation processes embedded in uneven material, structural and ideational power relations delimiting transformative capacities and causing uneven social and spatial impacts.

Exploring power relations within the Estonian energy transition at the example of the Paldiski LNG terminal
Master's thesis (supervised by Prof. Dr. rer. pol. Ludger Gailing, Dr. phil. Julia Binder) applying critical discourse analysis grounded in Foucauldian governmentality to broadcast interviews, policy documents, news articles and film on the power relations undergirding the Estonian post-Soviet energy transition at the contentious example of the Paldiski LNG terminal development against the backdrop of the unfolding Russo-Ukrainian war.

How to manipulate energy to get what you want (with Nora Soo)
Project in the master's seminar Caring for Ida-Viru? Tracing Frontiers of Shrinkage discussing issues of energy justice and energy poverty in the Eastern Estonian province of Ida-Viru. The multimedia installation aims at highlighting shifting power relations within a decentralising energy system undergoing a transformation from fossil to renewable energy sources. Instructional videos about hacking energy meters, devices of control operating at the interface of the public and the private realm, are contrasted with online self-help audio tracks on spiritual energy manipulation.
